Find Someone Who
Students are given sheets of paper containing lists of various accomplishments, skills and other information. The goal is for students to travel around the classroom talking to others who fulfill spots on their sheets. For instance, the sheet could ask you to find someone who plays a musical instrument or has traveled internationally. This game lets students learn interesting facts about their classmates.
Jigsaw Puzzle
Prepare construction paper jigsaw puzzle shapes of several different colors. The teacher allows students to select one puzzle piece from a container as they walk into the room. At the designated time, students search the room for peers who have puzzle pieces that fit theirs and then write down three responses to the following questions: (1) What is the title of a favorite food?; (2) What do you like doing in your free time when you're not at school?; and (3) What is your favorite animal/pet?
Then it is time for introductions. As the student stands they are introduced by their partner to the rest of the class by saying, "Class, I'd like you to meet ________. Her favorite food is _______. She likes to __________. Her favorite animal/pet is ___________. Please welcome _______ to our class! Classmates then clap.
